What started today as an uphill climb to get to 1,000 players, the field for the Bog Stax 500 is now within reach of becoming the second largest field in the history of this tournament. Kevin Grabel beat a field of 1,184 runners to complete his run at back-to-back Parx titles in May 2016 and the field that has been built over the least three days is now less than 60 entrants away from topping that total.
Players will soon be on their last break of the night and when they return, will find themselves only three 45-minute levels away from the plastic and a trip to tomorrow's Day 2. With almost two dozen tables still in play, it is difficult to predict exactly how many players will bag chips from this flight but it is fair to reason that the total will exceed the 90 who combined to bag from the first two flights.
The Big Stax blog will return on the other side of break with a few more player features along with updates on the chip leaders as the night draws to a close.
